Event Recap: MizzouThon 2023

The Objective:

The objective was to ensure that the attendees of the day-long celebration were engaged, entertained, and left feeling inspired and connected to the cause.

On-Site Coordination with a dedicated point person to manage the logistics on the day of the event was a must. The MizzouThon planners were also looking for professional help to establish a cohesive and seamless flow of activities throughout the day. Part of their goal was to find a company to coordinate and communicate transitions between different sessions, speakers, performances, and activities to ensure attendees have a seamless and enjoyable experience.

The Solutions:

We provided essential aspects of the event such as sound and lighting design, audiovisual services including an LED wall, stage design, and DJ entertainment. Our lead emcee was able to hold the attention of the audience and keep them entertained.

In addition, our creative team designed the digital assets for the event, including branding, animations, videos, motion graphics, and backgrounds. We also planned the hourly themes and selected music for the event. The Utopia team was on-site day of the event to manage logistics and communicate session transitions throughout the day. We are still overjoyed by the unforgettable experience we had at MizzouThon. From the dance performances to the generous donations, it was a day filled with celebration, compassion, and gratitude. We are honored to have played a role in it.

The Event Overview:

MizzouThon, the largest student-run philanthropy at the University of Missouri, hosted its main event in March 2023, at the University of Missouri Rec Center. The 13.1-hour celebration, also known as the Dance Marathon, united students to raise critical funds for the Women and Children’s Hospital in Columbia, MO.

The event was a great success, with over 400 attendees participating and raising funds and awareness for sick and injured children. The atmosphere of the event was electric, with attendees coming from different communities and backgrounds. Throughout the day, participants were able to enjoy live music, performances, games, and food, while also bonding with Miracle Families and fellow participants.

One of the highlights of the event was the emotional reveal of the fundraising total for the year, which brought the community together and honored the patient’s families.

They managed to raise over $120,000!!

Attendees left feeling inspired and energized, and the organizers are already planning for next year’s event, which promises to be even more exciting and impactful.

Overall, MizzouThon provided a unique opportunity for learning, connection, and community involvement, and showcased the power of student-led philanthropy in making a difference in the world.

“Emcee Dee and DJ Roe were amazing at the Dance Marathon last night. They kept the crowd pumped for almost 14 hours. I was really impressed. I recommend them!”
